Unlocking Pathways to Success is a joint initiative between several key federal agencies that revolutionize how our nation's high schools prepare students for their future careers. By bridging the gap between education, workforce development, and industry needs, this collaborative effort seeks to equip all students with accelerated pathways towards earning college credits and gning practical career experience. Led by partnerships across the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, and Commerce, along with support from public and private sectors, government agencies, and community-based organizations, our goal is to create multiple routes for success that enable youth to realize their full potential, unlocking educational opportunities as a stepping stone towards fulfilling lives.
The Problem:
In today's job market, most well-paying jobs require some form of postsecondary education or trning beyond high school. By 2027, this figure is expected to rise to 70, underscoring the critical need for enhancing our educational syste meet employer demands and ensure social and economic mobility.
The Solution:
To address these challenges, we are redesigning the structure of our education and workforce syste become launchpads for young professionals. By leveraging federal funds, including those from the American Rescue Plan, and other federal resources, we m to expand career pathway systems that equip students with essential skillsdual enrollment opportunities, work-based learning experiences, industry-recognized credentials, and personalized career advising. Together, this initiative will empower youth to discover their passions and potential, providing them with practical learning environments in emerging fields like biotechnology, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, and more. The m is to position students for rewarding careers locally and globally, ensuring they are competitive in an increasingly interconnected labor market.
Our Vision:
Personalized Guidance: Students receive tlored career advice informed by labor market insights, helping them make well-informed decisions about their future paths.
Real-world Experience: Through pd work-based learning, students solve practical problems, hone skills, build social networks, and gn professional experience.
Industry Credentials: Acquisition of relevant certifications that demonstrate proficiency in areas employers demand.
College Credits Achieved: Students earn at least 12 college credits through dual enrollment courses, integrating academic content with career-focused learning.
