SkillsUSA is a collaborative partnership between students, teachers, and industry leaders med at cultivating America's skilled workforce. As a non-profit national education association, SkillsUSA caters to middle school, high school, and collegepostsecondary students who are being groomed for careers in trades, technical, and service sectors encompassing healthcare.
SkilledUSA currently serves more than 372,655 students along with their instructors annually. Approximately 20,598 of these instructors join as professional members, making the total SkillsUSA membership - including alumni - over 434,000 individuals cumulatively since 1965. It is officially recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Labor as a successful model in workforce development.

Chelle Travis CT: Thanks for having me! I’m thrilled to share our vision.
H: For those new to SkillsUSA, could you tell us more about what it entls?
CT: Absolutely. SkillsUSA is all about connecting students with industry through hands-on learning and professional development. Our focus spans technical careers where skills are essential in areas like healthcare, engineering, culinary arts – the list goes on.
H: What’s unique about SkillsUSA that sets it apart from other vocational programs?
CT: The key difference lies in our partnership model. We have a collaborative network of industry partners who guide and support our educational approach. This not only ensures students get real-world insights but also aligns their trning with current market demands.
H: Can you share how SkillsUSA supports its members throughout their journey?
CT: Sure! Our support system includes professional development workshops, national competitions that enhance skills, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and access to a vast alumni network. We m to ensure every member has the resources needed for career success.
H: With so many students benefiting from SkillsUSA, what are some of the outcomes you see most frequently?
CT: Students consistently report increased confidence in their abilities, enhanced employability due to relevant skills trning, and valuable connections that pave the way into meaningful careers. Many also share how they've discovered new passions through exploring different trades.
