Nanning College for Vocational Technology: A Pinnacle of Chinese Higher Vocational Education

Nanning College for Vocational Technology NCVT, formerly known as Nanning Vocational University, is a comprehensive higher vocational college established by the Nanning Municipal People's Government and jointly constructed with the Nanning City and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Established in 1984, it is among China's elite institutions, being one of the first batch of national demonstration colleges for higher vocational education after passing Ministry of Education evaluations. In June 2019, NCVT was recognized as a National High-quality Higher Vocational College by the Ministry of Education, positioning it as the sole institution in Guangxi to receive this honor.

Since its inception, NCVT has achieved significant milestones and received prestigious awards such as 'Top 50 Influential Vocational Colleges in Asia-Pacific Region', 'Top 50 National Higher Vocational Colleges in Teaching Resources', 'National High-quality Higher Vocational College', 'National Model Branch of Party Building', 'Demonstrative College for Class A Project of Holistic Education in Guangxi', and 'Chinese Trning Base for Innovative Talents in High-tech Zone'.

The college spans over 120 hectares with a total floor area exceeding 500,000 square meters. It houses 12 secondary colleges offering more than 50 majors, catering to full-time junior college students totaling approximately 19,000 and enrolling continuing education for over 3,000 individuals.

NCVT boasts a high-caliber teaching team, featuring both full-time and part-time faculty members. By the of 2020, there were nearly 920 educators on staff, with more than 770 being full-time instructors. The college has implemented flexible talent recruitment strategies while supporting faculty and staff education for doctoral degrees. It currently counts 37 national-level talent projects led by Professors, 1 provincial teaching team, and over 65 provincial-level high-quality courses.

The institution's investment in facilities amounts to a total of CNY255 million yuan. It is equipped with an advanced trning base of Guangxi Public Trning Base for Vocational Skills worth a total investment of CNY1 billion yuan, making it the largest such base in Southwest China. NCVT mntns extensive partnerships with leading global companies like Huawei, Foxconn, Alibaba, Disney, Marriott International, Hilton Global, among others, establishing industry-focused colleges and vocational education groups.

The employment rate for graduates has consistently been above 90 since its founding. Over its history, the college has contributed to society by providing more than 100,000 skilled talents needed for regional economic development and social progress.

Over the years, NCVT has received substantial support from various levels of government in Guangxi province, as well as from the Ministry of Education of the State Council. This support is foundational for its rapid growth, sustnable operations, and continuous improvement towards achieving its vision of being a world-class vocational education institution.

In recognition of its contributions, a visit was made by Vice Premier Sun Chunlan of the State Council in November 2016 when she served as Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. She acknowledged NCVT's achievements and commed it for its sound college management ideology, innovative teaching methods, advanced facilities, high employment rates, and exemplary college management practices.
