Enhancing Futures: £4.5 Million Investment in Skills and Opportunities Across the Liverpool City Region

The Liverpool City Region's six leading colleges have been awarded a significant share of the Government's £165 million Local Skills Improvement Fund LSIF, totaling £4.5 million, med at addressing the rapidly evolving skills requirements for local businesses.

This investment will be spread across six distinct projects that align with the priorities outlined in the Liverpool City Region's Local Skills Improvement Plan launched in June 2023. These initiatives emphasize developing green and digital skill sets, focusing on sectors like electrichybrid vehicles, hydrogen infrastructure, renewable energy, as well as digitalization.

The collaborative effort involves Hugh Brd College, The City of Liverpool College, Riverside College, Wirral Met College, Southport College, and St Helens College, each leading a project tlored to specific areas:

  1. Talent Bank Career Pathways Project

    • Led by Hugh Brd College, this initiative create transparency around the skills and career opportunities avlable within the city region, particularly aligned with priority job roles identified in the Liverpool City Region's Local Skills Improvement Plan.
  2. Green Technologies Digitalisation Collaboration

  3. New Skills for Net Zero Campgn

  4. New Pathways to Learning Initiative

  5. Freeport Skills Academy Launch

  6. Building Employer Partnerships Bridge

This funding allocation is the outcome of a collaborative partnership spanning the entire Further Education sector within the Liverpool City Region. Our collective commitment lies in ensuring employers and industries have access to a robust workforce equipped with skills that are relevant for today's and future challenges.

The Talent Bank project will focus on enhancing awareness among students about avlable opportunities, particularly those linked to critical job roles identified by the plan through the development of engaging promotional materials.
